Opis

Amalia Avia studied at the Peña School and at the Superior School of Fine Arts in Madrid. In the late 1950s, she met Antonio López, Enrique Grau, and Lucio Muñoz, who were part of the Madrid School. In 1959, she held her first exhibition at the Fernández Gallery in Madrid. From the beginning of her career, these were difficult times for realism due to the triumph of informalism. The themes that caught her attention the most were everyday subjects, always within figurative art. She liked to portray the urban landscape of Madrid. In 1978, she was awarded the Goya Prize of the Villa de Madrid, and in 1983, she participated in the Exhibition of Realism in Spain.
